Kurt Sutter, the creator of FX's Sons of Anarchy, has just sold a script to the network for a new comedy called Diva. Clown. Killer.
EW.com describes the story as a "dark, absurd comedy about an '80s has-been rock diva, her dysfunctional son who makes his living as kid’s party clown, and of course, an assassin." Sons of Anarchy star (and Sutter's wife) Katey Sagal will executive produce the project alongside Belle Zwerdling. Sagal could also potentially star, depending on her work schedule.
"I look at [Sons of Anarchy] as being an intense drama, where the murder and mayhem are made palatable by absurd, dark humor," explained Sutter. "This half-hour will be an absurd, dark comedy, where the story is fueled by murder and mayhem."
Should the script go to pilot, Sutter would hire a showrunner so he could continue working on SOA.
