Nariko and Sir Daniel Confirmed for PlayStation All-Stars

Nariko from Heavenly Sword and Sir Daniel Fortesque from MediEvil are the 19th and 20th confirmed characters in Sony’s upcoming brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

A video distributed by GameSpot shows the two characters in action. You can see the footage below.

The reveal of Nariko and Sir Daniel mark the inclusion of every single character from the leaked data from All-Stars’ beta. Could these two characters therefore be the final reveal? It remains to be seen! But keep an eye on IGN for more information on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale as it develops.

Alleged Heavenly Sword 2 Concept Art Leaks

Concept art for what was supposedly planned to be Heavenly Sword 2 has leaked online showing off Nariko in what appears to be a desert setting.

A series of nine images appeared on AllGamesBeta purporting to be from a planned sequel to the 2007 hack and slash adventure that never materialised.

Though they haven't been confirmed, the art style seems pretty similar to the supporting artwork that we saw before the original title was released. A sequel to Heavenly Sword has been talked about for years; the game was originally planned as being the first in a trilogy, but since Ninja Theory has recently focused on multi-platform development, it seems increasingly unlikely that a follow-up to the PS3 exclusive will happen.

Ninja Theory is currently working on the Devil May Cry reboot, DmC, which is due out on January 15, 2013. They previously worked on Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, the art style of which was very clearly inspired by Heavenly Sword.

You can check out some of the leaked concept art below, or head over to AGB for more.

Luke Karmali is IGN's UK Editorial Assistant. You too can revel in mediocrity by following him on IGN and on Twitter.

Metal Gear Rising Gamescom trailer is identical to the E3 one until Raiden's new chainsaw-tailed robo-dog turns up with the release date

Video games, for some reason, have a long tradition of partnering sword-wielding heroes with canine partners. There was Shadow Dancer on the Mega Drive. Then there was Galford and Poppy in Samurai Showdown. And Shadow and Interceptor in Final Fantasy VI. And Fable II's hero. And there are even more if you branch out from bladetastic protagonists. Seriously, video games, you're obsessed.

And now it looks like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is going the same way. Except that its doggie helper is a robo-dog with a chainsaw tail.

Because robo-dogs with chainsaw tails!

Anyway, here it is in the new Gamescom trailer, which is exactly the same as the E3 trailer except that it has a robo-dog helper with a chainsaw tail at the end.

Directable attack dog? Co-op partner? Separate character with side-missions all of his own? Frankly, I don't care. He is a robo-dog with a chainsaw for a tail, and for that I love Platinum Games in a way which makes me want to burst.

Also, the Metal Gear Rising release date is now confirmed as the 21st of February 2013.

But, you know, this mainly about robo-dogs.
