Forget the GTA IV realism mod. A base-jumping, stunt-biking elephant is what you really need

So now there's a Grand Theft Auto IV mod that lets you play as an Elephant instead of Niko. The elephant looks to have access to at least the ground and water vehicles and can use them with extreme prejudice. This video needs to be seen. The motorised carnage starts at 2:40.

The mod is the work of one Indirivacua, who has also created a giraffe mod, as well a whole host of other characters including Slanderman, the Teletubbies and er, Sean Paul. Check out his page at GTAGaming.com to get hold of them. He has given the world a base-jumping elephant, and this he deserves your respect.

Remote Play God of War, Ico and Shadow on Vita

Remote Play -- the ability to tether your PlayStation Vita to a PlayStation 3 and access content on that PS3 from anywhere via wifi -- hasn't gotten much use since Sony's handheld debuted. However, PlayStation is looking to change that today with patches for the God of War Collection and The Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection.

After installing the free game updates (God of War's is available now but Ico's isn't yet), the Vita can connect to its registered PS3 and play the collections off the console. Extra buttons -- such as R2 and L2 -- are mapped to the rear touch panel. From our brief time with the God of War Collection, Remote Play is easy to setup and works well. Latency doesn't seem to be a problem for Kratos, but that might depend on how strong your wifi connection is.

Let us know your Remote Play impressions in the comments below.

Guild Wars 2: Review in Progress

No more stress tests or beta weekends, head start access is available for those who pre-ordered ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2, so some can finally play without the looming disappointment of a character wipe. Throughout the coming weeks, expect regular updates to appear below as I check out the launch version for review. I’ll post daily video updates during the work week, showing off how my Norn Guardian is progressing as I level through the 1 – 80 content, take part in World versus World battles and jump into PvP arenas.

And if you pre-ordered and are in the early access period now, maybe I’ll see you online. You can also check out my Twitter, where I'll be posting more updates as I play.

Dust 514 Beta Headed to PlayStation Plus

CCP has announced a new beta period for Dust 514 exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Access will run two weeks, beginning on August 24th and ending on September 4th. While no new beta codes will be sent out during that period, people with All-Access Passes will still have access to the beta.

PlayStation Plus members will also receive a 50% discount on Dust’s Mercenary Pack, which is normally $19.99. The pack offers 4,000 Aurum, a 30-day active skill booster, and exclusive in-game items including a Dragonfly Scout dropsuit and Toxin ICD-9 submachine gun.

August 21st will also mark the launch of Dust’s Precursor update, which CCP detailed last week. In addition to live Dust 514 and EVE Online integration Precursor will also add Orbital Strikes, instant battle matchmaking, new environments, keyboard and mouse support and more.

Dust 514 will enter open beta later this year. For more about the game, read why it’s the deepest first-person shooter we’ve ever played.
